Lilimay Fun With Harold!

The first 3 weeks of this term our class got to see a giraffe named harold and a lady named Slyvia and learnt all about life education. This week was our last session which I wasn’t present at.

Since I am staying at home at the moment I haven’t been to school; and missed our last trip to see harold and sylvia in their life education van.

For the 2 lessons where I was present we managed to have lots of fun and watch and learn about our brain and how our brain works and thinks even when we’re not paying attention.

Lesson Number 1

When we first got there we all took off our shoes and went inside where we were first created and introduced to our life education teacher Slyvia. She then asked us to sit in a row of trees vertically. which we all did while our teacher sat at the back of the van and watched us. We then got into learning about the 2 different mindsets which were the fixed and growth mindset. A fixed mindset is when you only think about yourself in a very negative way where a growth mindset means that you’re accepting of your failures knowing that you can learn from your mistakes. We then watched a short video about a girl named Chloe and what her brain was processing and how us humans think more than 70,00 thoughts a day without knowing. We then all got into a pair and learnt about different parts in the brain and what they control in our bodies.

Lesson Number 2

For our second lesson after taking off all of our shoes and going inside we sat in the lines we were in before and said hi to Slyvia. We then watched a video of a boy whose name I forgot. We then watched him create a positive video about himself introducing himself before sending the video to his classmates. The next day in the video we can see that the boy is upset after hearing fellow students talking bad about him and mocking him which leads him to think negative thoughts about himself and make his self confidence go away. After describing how we thought of the video and how we would react if that were us, we got ta say goodbye to Slyvia and Harold before returning to our class to collect our bags and shoes, then leaving since school had ended.

Lesson Number 3 ( I was not there)

Even though I could not attend this lesson with Harold, it was a very fun experience that I enjoyed a lot and most definitely took the opportunity to meet Harold and Sylvia again in the future.

Here are some photos that i got from our teacher Mrs Stones room 4 blog (AKA our class blog)

What I did during the weekend :)

This is a  really short paragraph about what I got up to during the weekend other than going to a jack hollow concert out west at The Trusts Arena.

During the weekend I got to watch 2 scary/horror movies with my family such as the movie “ GET OUT” and another movie named “ The Black Phone”

I’m not going to talk that much about the movies I watched mostly because I forgot what happened but I would definitely recommend both of these movies to people who are into horror/creepy movies. They are both eternally scary to me but then again I’m not that into scary movies so it doesn’t really bother me at the end of the day.

If you like my writing and would like me to write more about the both of these movies then please let me know : )

Wk2 Term 3 2022 Monday Mass Rotations Document Description

This is either the slideshow or document I made to describe/show the experience I had with my group during our mass measurement rotations that we did with our teacher Miss Stone in our home class. I hope you like my work and if you do then please leave a positive comment on my blog. This is to match my 2 other slideshows that I did.

Introduction

This all seemed very fun to me since I had never experienced any type of group working while engaging with measuring. Even though I found it hard to work out the answers when measuring, I am still very happy that I got to do this with my classmates.

 Rotation Number One

After our teacher Miss Stone explained what we were all going to be doing and why we got split up and put into groups. In my group there were two boys, Aaron year 8, and Toa year 7, as well as one year 7 girl, Swaimah. For my group’s first rotation we were tasked to measure and weigh different items in grams and ml. For our items we could choose from a book, a whiteboard marker, a “no fishing” sign from our fish tank, a hand sanitizer bottle, a pack of paper clips and a pencil.

Rotation Number Two

After me and the rest of my group go to another table and work with measuring cups of different sized containers and getting to measure liquid, millilitres cups and litres. I admit this second rotation was very messy compared to our first rotation but we all still managed to measure all of the containers and take pictures.

Rotation Number Three

For our third and last rotation we got to measure with more measuring cups along with an actual cup/mugh a bowl and syringes and more containers. I honestly think that this rotation was my favourite out of them all because I didn’t know that there were so many ways to measure out liquids and other stuff.

How I felt at the end of our rotations

I feel very happy that I got to experience this with my classmates and work together to take photos and fill in the slideshow that our teacher Miss Stone made for us. I am very excited to learn more about measuring after this and will hope that I will get to experience more things like this.

This is my ad that I made a persuasive speech about. Our task was to create an ad and write a persuasive speech to try and get our audience to want to buy our item. We were allowed to choose whether our item was a household item or a classroom one. For mine I chose Razer headphones like the ones I have at home. If you like my work then please leave a positive comment on my blog 😀
