Where Angels Fear to Tread Y9

Today our literacy teacher Mr Moran wasn’t here to teach us since he is out helping for athletics. because of that we had to stay in out home class for literacy. my home class teacher is Mrs Stone and for her literacy class she was going to teach them as if they we’re in year 9 at college so we got to join in. we also had to distance and move our desks to look  like a college classroom and follow rules that would apply to college students. this is the work we did that is in year 9 level.

Task 3:

Where angels fear to tread

This task is about reading to find information and make inferences.

Read ‘Where angels fear to tread‘, then answer the following questions.

a)

How old is Ngorongoro Crater?

2 million years old

b)

What word does the writer use in the middle of the story to indicate that he wasn’t scared of buffalo?

Just “ because the writer has made the characters compare the buffalo to a lion and how they’re more scared of a lion than a buffalo

c) What would have been a useful item to take on the walk to the lodge?

A flashlight because it would help them to see more in the dark.

d) Explain how the saying in the final line, “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread”, goes with the story.

In this story the phrase matches with the story because of what happened at the end of the story, where  the author and Halina find out how dangerous the buffalo could have been if it got upset at them for trying to wave it away.

“Fools rush in where angels fear to tread” refers to a person who behaves impulsively; they don’t think before reacting. The saying goes with the story because a group of people, Halina and the speaker travel to Africa before knowing very little about it e.g. dangers, animals, people.
